Another Successful Jobs Fair for Hastings
Elena lives in Hastings and last summer was looking for work. Whilst at the Jobcentre she noticed an advert for Amber’s Jobsfair and took the opportunity to go along and see what was on offer.
At the Jobsfair Elena met with staff from Hastings Works who went through her CV and recommended she speak with Lord Brett McClean of the FSB who also runs the Azur at The Marina Pavilion in St Leonards. It was this instant face to face contact that led to something remarkable for her.
Brett instantly saw the potential in Elena and a place for her in his organisation. He said the most important aspect was personality. Elena had the right attitude and personality to work in the hospitality industry. After meeting with Brett at Amber’s Jobsfair, Elena had an interview within three hours at the Azur and a couple of weeks later was starting her first shift as a waitress.
Nearly a year later she is still working for Brett but in a promoted position as the Conference and Banqueting Coordinator at the Azur. She said “I’m so grateful to Amber for all she has done in finding me work. I was terribly worried last summer that I wasn’t going to find anything, but at Amber’s Jobsfair I saw hope. There were a variety of opportunities open to people and I was very fortunate to get a job the same day. I love my job, and I’m extremely grateful to Brett for having the confidence to take me on and give me this opportunity I had long been searching for.”
Amber commented “Elena’s story is remarkable, and just shows the power of getting job seekers and employers in the same room. There are jobs out there and it is a case of joining up the dots and getting employers to meet those looking for work. It is these crucial first steps that can unlock years of success and happiness for both employer and employee. Last year we saw 11 people get job offers from the Jobsfair on the day itself. This was a remarkable achievement, and hope that this March we will see many more people like Elena finding work.”
“Tetrabyte Managed I.T. exhibited at Amber Rudd’s 2013 Jobs Fair. The day was a great success attracting many local people who were looking for employment opportunities. I personally spent the day talking with a variety of people with varying skills and abilities, not all suited to our particular employment sector, but nonetheless, it gave me a good opportunity to meet potential candidates for our current vacancies. Following the Jobs Fair we were successful in employing two new members of staff. We found the day very well organised from start to finish and look forward to exhibiting again next year. “

“I would just like to start by saying we are very grateful for being invited to the recent Jobs Fair held by Amber Rudd in Sussex Coast College. This is the second event that we have attended and I can say we found it very rewarding, both in terms of supporting the local community and also to see the amount of candidates we spoke to on the day that have then applied online for a job at Sainsburys. We not only discuss potential vacancies we use the time to help up skill people with what the online process is and what we would look for as an employer at a job interview.
We have had successful applicants that have attended the jobs fair day and this in our opinion demonstrates the value and necessity of these sorts of events.”

“I would just like to say that the venue was excellent and the general response was very positive we registered some quality candidates and found the day extremely useful. We would gladly attend this again.”

Hastings Jobs Fair 2012
Total of 38 companies offering jobs from seasonal vacancies to full training schemes to help build your career, the Hastings Jobs Fair was a huge success. Over 1,500 job seekers attended on the day, many receiving follow up appointments.
“Starfire Recruitment came to Hastings Jobs Fair 2012 not really knowing what to expect, and were blown away by how useful it turned out to be. The undiscovered resources of this town would have gone largely un-noticed by not just ourselves but I’m sure our peers also without it. The quality of candidates and the networking possibilities made this a very worthwhile day and we are indebted to Terri Lock and the Jobs Fair as a whole for giving our new business the exposure and opportunity we needed to put ourselves out there and make some waves. Highly recommended and professional, we will definitely be attending again if possible.”

Prime Care Community Services Ltd
The quality of applicants was higher than expected – thank you.
My experience of the Jobs Fair is that it was extremely well organised and as soon as I entered Sussex Coast College I was given assistance. The venue was also excellent with use of the onsite facilities ie Costa etc. One of the reasons I was able to attend alone was due to having the table and chairs provided for me to use. Given that this was a free event it was an excellent opportunity for Anchor to take advantage of.
Overall it was an interesting day and I was kept very busy. It was a good way to promote Foster Care and I hope we may have made some genuine contacts to follow up as well as distributing our giveaways which will maybe promote some in the future to all Anchor Foster Care.
Thank you again for your assistance.
